A small songbird standing in profile, head turned toward you, with a short conical beak, a ringed eye, a pale cheek and throat patch, a shoulder wing drawn in layered feather strokes, a long pointed tail and two slender legs with splayed claws. The feel is naturalistic, like a field-guide illustration. Cut it for garden and birdwatcher signs, cottage-style tote bags, greeting cards, nature journal covers, mugs and framed papercut art.
One solid cut layer, with the feather lines and cheek patch knocked out as negative shapes. Those wing strokes are the fine detail, so cut at 5 in or larger for vinyl and 6 in for cardstock. Weed the thin feather slivers first with a hook tool, working from the tail forward. Matte black permanent vinyl or 65 lb cardstock hold the detail best. Pairs with other bird and branch silhouettes for a flock layout.
