A magpie standing in profile, head lifted and beak slightly open, with a rounded body, a bright ringed eye, a long sweeping tail and a curved white patch across the folded wing. A small cluster of pointed leaves grows beside its feet. Countryside and folkloric in feel. Good for a garden shed sign, a birdwatcher shirt, a greeting card, a kitchen tea towel, or a framed papercut bird print.
Cut as one color; the wing patch and the leg and tail lines are open negative space, so backing paper or a contrasting surface supplies the second tone. Those thin wing stripes and the toes set the floor at about 5 inches. Weed the wing first while the tape is fresh, and try it in black vinyl on white timber or cream cardstock. Sits well beside the other bird silhouettes in the shop.
