A coconut sliced open across the top, filled to the rim and finished with a bent paper straw, its shell textured in fine engraved strokes with stray husk fibers around the edge. The feel is vintage woodcut, tropical but grown-up. Use it on a beach tote, a summer vacation shirt, a tiki bar sign, a cooler lid decal, a pool towel or a bachelorette party koozie.
One color, but the shell hatching is the whole look and it is fine, so 6 inches on the long side is the safe floor; smaller and the strokes fuse. Use a deep-cut or fine-point blade with a slow speed and weed the shell lines from the outside in. Looks best in a single dark vinyl on light fabric, and pairs with palm tree, pineapple and surfboard files.
